UNWDA picks Digital Angel to RFID-tag disaster aid dogs January 25, 2006
The United Network for Worldwide Disaster Aid (UNWDA) has chosen Digital Angel Corporation to implement electronic radio frequency identification (RFID) technology on its specially-trained canine search and rescue teams in various countries. UNWDA, the EU-based team of experts deployed at disaster events and areas all over the world has worked with Digital Angel to implant RFID chips in 49 dogs out of the group’s total of 178 dogs. A number of these dogs have already been deployed in areas where emergency aid is needed such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Caribbean, and China.
