China to Become RFID Playground March 10, 2006

China’s Ministry of Public Security (MPS), which oversees the country’s police force, reportedly will soon be implementing a country-wide adoption of RFID as its identification card standard. The MPS estimates over 1.3 billion identification cards based on the RFID (radio frequency identification) chip will be distributed in China.

Over 102 million new cards have been issued so far. MPS intends to issue over 300 million new cards a year for the next several years.
