First RFID Asset-Tracking Test for Construction Industry Completed April 1, 2006
The two-month RFID asset-tracking tests conducted by BT Auto-ID Services, a RFID solutions provider, on a London construction site was successfully completed, BT announces today. The test was conducted to improve cost-efficiencies and the management of vehicles, tools and equipment on large sites throughout the country.
The said RFID-tracking test was the first in the construction industry. BT conducts the test with one of the biggest international construction company in UK and because of the rising need to efficiently monitor the location and the condition of construction materials and equipments in the construction sites.
Results of the two-moth tests proved RFID’s advantage to the construction industry where costly assets are often movable and are exposed to a lot of risks like theft, misplacement and unauthorized use.
Says Ross Hall, CEO BT Auto-ID Services, “By combining advanced wireless technologies with long battery life, we are able to increase asset visibility and reduce installation, integration and reconfiguration times, leading to faster deployment and redeployment, resulting in reduced operational costs for our customer.”
