Three Canadians Get Implanted with RFID Tags March 30, 2006

Three unnamed customers of Canadian Piercing Studio Tribal Expression were implanted with 64-bit RFID tags that are specially designed to allow people to unlock doors, cars, computers and the like without the need for keys and passwords.

Keith Kennedy, the owner of Tribal Expressions says that the RFID tags implanted under the skin of the three customers allow for 100 billion unique keys; thereby, they provide better if not maximum security compared to traditional keys. It’s almost impossible for someone to guess the frequency that would allow access to his home or any personal belonging.

If one would go to a hardware store to look for replacement keys, he may only find as much as 300 unique keys.

Implanting RFID chips in humans was not totally new. The first human implant was conducted in 1998 by Kevin Warwick, a British professor of cybernetics.
